About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Drill Supervisor to lead and coordinate drilling operations across production and specialised drilling activities. This role is responsible for ensuring all drilling tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with operational plans, geotechnical requirements, and site procedures.

You will provide leadership to drill crews, oversee daily operations, and drive performance while maintaining strong safety and compliance standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily drilling activities across production and horizontal drilling crews
  • Ensure drilling operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with site procedures and plans
  • Lead, mentor, and support drill operators and offsiders to achieve production targets
  • Monitor drilling performance, ground conditions, and equipment utilisation
  • Interpret and implement drill plans, designs, and geotechnical requirements
  • Conduct pre-start meetings, risk assessments, and ensure hazard controls are in place
  • Oversee maintenance coordination and ensure equipment is operating to standard
  • Maintain accurate reporting including shift reports, drilling logs, and incident reports
  • Liaise with engineers, geotechnical teams, and supervisors to optimise drilling outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

 

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within mining, civil, or drilling operations
  • Strong background operating production drill rigs (e.g. Epiroc D65, and DML, Pit Viper) and/or HDD rigs (e.g. Vermeer)
  • Demonstrated experience in hard rock and/or geotechnical drilling environments
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Solid understanding of drilling safety, hazard identification, and ground control practices
  • Ability to interpret drill plans, geotechnical designs, and operational schedules
  • Current Open Drivers Licence (HR highly regarded)
  • Current RII for (highly regarded)
    • Forklift
    • Non Slew Crane
    • Riggers/Doggers ticket
    • Telehandler
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
