Euronext Market Services (EMS) Euronext Market Services (EMS) is the front line for Euronexts cash, derivatives and commodities business, with main operational centres in Amsterdam, Dublin, Oslo, Milan and Paris. EMS ensures fair and orderly markets for all cash, derivatives and commodities products, including listing operations, corporate actions, numbering, Euronext indices, Euronext market data, member onboarding and hosted commercial markets. The teams operate all Euronext cash and derivatives markets and own the service delivery to clients. EMS is organised around the following main functional departments: member access and client services, market operations and surveillance, issuers services operations and regulatory reporting, supported by two transversal teams: quality and performance management, and transformation and projects. About Market Surveillance and Trading Operations Within EMS, the Market Surveillance and Trading Operations team monitors all trading activities across Euronext financial markets in real time and on an ex-post basis.

Role summary

We are seeking motivated professionals to join our surveillance team. The team is responsible for identifying potential market abuse patterns, market manipulation or breaches of trading rules, as well as designing, implementing and operating anomaly detection algorithms. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the strengthening of the market abuse framework on Euronexts cash and derivatives markets.

The position is based in Amsterdam and may require working in shift.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the first line of defense in the analysis of trading data and identification of potential breaches
  • Collaborate with compliance teams and external regulators to investigate potential breaches of market rules and assist in implementing corrective actions
  • Prepare detailed reports on detected anomalies
  • Provide recommendations for improving surveillance processes and tools
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, calibration, testing, operation and maintenance of market abuse detection algorithms and alerts, both from a quantitative and technical perspective
  • Support the trading operations teams in the real-time activities on cash and derivative markets when required
  • Stay up to date with the latest financial regulations and standards (e.g. MiFID II, MAR) and ensure surveillance practices are aligned with regulatory changes

Background and education

  • Masters degree in quantitative finance, quantitative disciplines or a related field
  • At least two years of experience in a similar role within a financial institution, exchange, or market regulatory authority
  • Experience with the implementation of anomaly/pattern detection algorithms and automation projects
  • Fluency in English

Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in market surveillance tools (specialised software, anomaly detection tools)
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards (MiFID II, MAR, etc.)
  • Strong ability to analyse financial data and market behaviours
  • Experience in designing, implementing and operating anomaly/pattern detection algorithms, automation projects or data-driven analysis, such as time series modelling or econometric modelling
  • Understanding of financial markets dynamics and cash and derivatives products, including commodities
  • Knowledge of market microstructure, trading functionalities and their evolution from a business, technical and regulatory perspective
  • Technical IT knowledge regarding the management and implementation of projects
  • Programming knowledge is required (Python, SQL)
  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to working with various internal and external stakeholders
