The Role
CME Group is looking for a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented Market Risk Intern to join our team for a 12-month placement. This is a high-impact opportunity to sit at the heart of the worlds leading derivatives marketplace, gaining hands-on experience in risk reporting, market analysis, and financial technology.
You will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Market Risk team, ensuring our risk metrics are accurate and our tools remain cutting-edge.
Principal Accountabilities
As a Market Risk Intern, you will be deeply involved in the day-to-day rhythm of the risk department:

• Market Analysis: Track and analyze global market activity across various products and asset classes.
• Risk Reporting: Prepare daily reports and monitor the performance of key risk metrics to ensure firm stability.
• Data & Systems: Assist in data collection and participate in ad-hoc projects aimed at enhancing the team's systems and analytical tools.
• Innovation: Work to identify gaps in current processes and assist in applying technical solutions to improve functionality for the wider Risk team.

Skills & Qualification Requirements
We are looking for candidates who are naturally curious about the financial world and possess the technical aptitude to handle complex data.

• Financial Literacy: A clear understanding of basic risk concepts and a genuine interest in financial and commodity markets.
• Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
• Communication: Ability to articulate complex data findings clearly and effectively.
• Technical Proficiency: * Expertise in Microsoft Office (specifically advanced Excel).
• Proficiency in Python is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with SQL is a distinct advantage.

Education Requirements

• Current Student: You must be currently pursuing a BA/BS or Masters/Advanced Degree.
• Academic Timing: Preference will be given to students currently in their 2nd year of study (penultimate year).
