Job Overview

The IT Project Lead Scrum Master is a servant-leader for multiple scrum teams, responsible for guiding them to a high level of performance and self-organization. This role involves mentoring other Scrum Masters, facilitating Agile ceremonies, removing impediments, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement. The Lead Scrum Master will work closely with Product Owners, development teams, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software for our IT projects.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and coach multiple Scrum teams on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to deliver high-quality products.

  • Mentor and develop other Scrum Masters within the organization, fostering a community of practice.

  • Assess the Scrum maturity of the teams and the organization and coach them to higher levels of maturity.

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives.

  • Facilitate discussions, decision-making, and conflict resolution in a positive and productive manner.

  • Identify, track, and remove impediments for the scrum teams.

  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame or judgment.

  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.

  • Work with Product Owners to ensure the product backlog is well-groomed and ready for the next sprint.

  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, helping teams to inspect and adapt their processes.

  • Track and report on key Agile metrics to provide insights into team performance and delivery.

Recommended Qualifications and Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in a related technology role for a software development team.

  • Proven experience in managing multiple Scrum teams simultaneously.

  • Deep understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC).

  • Expert knowledge of Scrum principles, practices, and theory.

  • Strong understanding of other Agile frameworks like Kanban and SAFe.

  • Excellent skills in facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, and increasing transparency.

  • Proficiency with Agile project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar.

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.


Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
