Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a first line of defense business line, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed for Citi’s institutional clients. Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function (“ICM UW” or “UW”) provides credit analysis, underwriting, and first line of defense credit approval for periodic / material transaction reviews, and any necessary subsequent credit monitoring across all institutional business including Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking relationships.

In this role, you’re expected to:

The ICM Credit Analyst will assist in financial and credit analysis activities across the portfolio. This role has responsibility for the Non-Investment Grade portfolio, with a focus on Classified assets. The role focuses on developing strong analytical foundations, data handling capabilities, and understanding credit processes.

  • Support in preparing financial models and Company valuations using standard approaches (comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, etc.).  
  • Assist in drafting credit notes, memos, and financial assessments under supervision.  
  • Spread financial statements in accordance with bank guidelines including calculation of cash flow, debt service coverage, collateral coverage, and guarantor net worth.
  • Track operating and financial performance, prepare quarterly monitoring reports, and update key portfolio metrics.  Conduct Ratio analysis, and write operating performance commentary.
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with internal credit policies and procedures.  
  • Coordinate with internal teams for data collection, documentation, and audit requirements.  
  • Co-manage of accounts with internal partners.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • Post Graduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or related discipline (MBA, CA, CFA, etc.)
  • 2–4 years of experience in credit analysis, audit, or financial research (internships acceptable).  
  • Good understanding of financial statements and key ratios.  
  • Knowledge of financial modeling concepts.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.  
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail.  
  • Eagerness to learn credit processes and policy frameworks.  
  • Team collaboration and clear communication skills.
  • Organizational skills with ability and willingness to work under pressure and manage time and priorities effectively
