The Role

We require an experienced, articulate and driven tax professional with energy and enthusiasm, who consistently aims for best in practice and contributes to the success of the team.  This role is a key hire in India and will report to the Senior Tax Manager in London, whilst collaborating with the wider Finance team and other individuals across the firm.  This is an exciting opportunity to work within a complex hedge fund environment.

Principal Responsibilities:

>Fund Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Assist with the preparation and review of U.S. federal and state tax filings for partnerships and corporations.
  • Coordinate with and manage external tax advisors on fund returns.
  • Support annual Schedule K-1 and PFIC preparation and investor tax reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of UK Reporting Fund compliance.  

>Management Company Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Assist with the preparation and review of tax filings for partnerships and corporations.
  • Coordinate with and manage external advisors on partnership and corporate tax returns globally, including data management for Pillar 2 obligations.
  • Prepare quarterly tax payment calculations for each corporate entity.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT, GST and Sales & Use tax returns on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Prepare transfer pricing local files each financial year.

>Tax Provision & Financial Reporting

  • Assist with quarterly and year-end tax provisions in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and review tax-related disclosures for financial statements.
  • Maintain tax workpapers and reconciliations.

>Withholding & International Tax

  • Support FATCA/CRS compliance and investor documentation (Forms W-8/W-9).
  • Monitor FIN48 (ASC 740-10) tax exposure for the funds on a daily basis.  
  • Assist with U.S. withholding tax filings (e.g., Forms 1042/1042-S) and monthly reporting to brokers.
  • Monitor global tax developments affecting fund structures.

>Advisory & Planning

  • Conduct research on tax issues impacting Caxton management and fund structures.
  • Support ad hoc projects related to tax strategy, investor queries and regulatory changes. 

>Process Improvement

  • Enhance tax processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
  • Partner with operations, accounting, and legal teams to ensure alignment on tax matters.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, qualified accountant/tax advisor, preferably Big 4 trained.
  • +5 years of experience in financial services tax.
  • Solid understanding of fund and corporate taxation.
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with accounting software a plus.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and plays as a team.
  • Diligent, organised and accountable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Keen desire to learn and grow.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships and to interface well with other departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and persist in a fast-paced environment.
