Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-quality solutions that support business and customer needs. This position is open to all qualified candidates and is aligned with fair and progressive employment practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and RESTful or event-driven APIs
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and QA teams to deliver features end to end
- Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production and non-production issues
- Implement security, data protection, and compliance best practices
- Contribute to system architecture and technical design discussions
- Support DevOps and CI/CD processes where applicable
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in backend software development
- Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, Go, or Node.js
- Experience with relational and or NoSQL databases
- Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Solid knowledge of software development life cycle and agile methodologies
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools
- Exposure to message queues or event streaming platforms
- Understanding of basic frontend concepts and how backend systems integrate with them
- Experience working in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments
