We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Finance Manager to join our Finance team. This role is located in China (Shanghai).

Based in Shanghai, the Finance Manager, is responsible for assisting the Country Controller to handle financial accounting, oversight of the control environment, and regulatory, tax, and statutory reporting for the entities. This role requires a robust understanding of accounting standards (both local and US) to ensure the general ledger is complete, accurate, and reflects the proper application of GAAP & Corporate Accounting Policies (CAP). The role involves working closely with auditors over the reporting cycle and maintaining relationships with relevant management committees, providing advice on regulatory and accounting matters, proactive insight into issues, and ensuring financial analysis needs are met. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to present results to the relevant management committees.

The role also involves in developing the robust control environment and providing control and oversight of the offshored accounting groups supporting their legal entities, with key delivery centres based in India in a global structure. The candidate needs to execute management direction.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

Accounting and Reporting

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements (statutory accounts, board packs, regulatory returns, etc)
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Oversight of accounting flows, regulatory reporting process, process changes, and reconciliations

Taxation and Audit

  • Handle corporate tax, GST reporting, Transfer Pricing by leveraging an expert provider
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • SOX audit and self-inspection

Advisory and Changes

  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support legal entity restructurings, business development and system enhancements
  • Participate in the implementation of CAP/GAAP changes
  • Working with the International and US based Tax Groups to manage overall effective tax rate.

Policy & Controls

  • Assist Country Controller in the oversight of control environment
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and financial policies.

Maintain standard operating procedures

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

Person Specification/ Qualifications:

  • Experienced Finance specialist with a background in accounting and regulatory reporting, preferably with financial services
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, banking regulations, and financial reporting requirements
  • Risk management, controls and governance experience
  • Project management and outsourcing experiences would be desirable

Core Competencies:

  • Strong communicator who can articulate key messages
  • Sound decision making abilities and well as responsible and accountable
  • Client orientated and results focused
  • Able to manage risk in a highly regulated and controlled environment
  • Strong control mindset
  • Ability to collaborate across Finance and the wider organisation
