Director, Digital Assets Audit

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Digital Assets Audit to join our Internal Audit team. This role is located in New York or Pittsburgh.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Define and execute the audit strategy for Digital Asset and tokenization programs, aligning with Global Internal Audit standards and delivering clear, actionable reporting to senior stakeholders and the Audit Committee.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of specialists, driving risk-based audits on control design and operating effectiveness—covering wallet security, blockchain integrity, system access, and change management.
  • Provide independent assurance over third-party providers and regulatory frameworks, coordinating responses to supervisory bodies and strengthening vendor risk management for platforms.
  • Accelerate remediation and elevate thematic issues to decision-makers, translating findings into practical solutions that enhance the control environment and enable safe scaling of digital-asset services.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Deep Internal Audit expertise in financial services, with demonstrated application of Global Internal Audit Standards and global regulatory expectations.
  • Digital-asset domain fluency—experience auditing crypto custody, blockchain/wallet infrastructure, key management, change management, and data integrity; familiarity with threat modeling and secure-by-design reviews.
  • Third-party/critical-vendor assurance experience for digital-asset providers and related KYT/KYVASP practices; ability to evaluate contractual mitigants and governance.
  • Data & technology literacy for audit—comfortable with analytics tooling and control testing across cloud platforms, information security, access/entitlements, and blockchain-adjacent technologies.
  • Leadership in the third line—proven ability to lead and develop audit teams, operate within the CAE leadership structure, and influence senior stakeholders with crisp, evidence-based reporting.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,500 and $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
