To be successful as a Software Engineer, you should have:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for building RESTful, productiongrade backend services and microservices.
  • Proficiency in Spring ecosystem components such as Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, and Spring Cloud.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, including contractfirst or OpenAPIdriven development.
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture, service communication, error handling, resilience patterns, and API versioning.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, such as:
    • Compute & integration: AWS Lambda, ECS/EKS, EC2.
    • Networking & security: VPC, IAM, Security Groups.
    • Storage & messaging: S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge.
  • Experience with cloud-native application design, scalability, fault tolerance, and observability.
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB) and data access patterns.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Stash/SVN) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and deployment practices.
  • Experience working within Agile / Scrum delivery teams.

Some other highly valued skills include:

  • Strong skills in performance tuning, debugging, and root cause analysis in distributed systems.
  • Understanding of security best practices, authentication/authorization, and secure API design.

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organizations technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
