Full Job Description

The Head of Product is responsible for designing, developing, and executing new policies and procedures, ensuring that the portfolio aligns with established underwriting best practices and quality objectives. This role drives and monitors underwriting policies, rules, guidelines, and peer review processes in collaboration with the business units to achieve underwriting quality, profitability, and regulatory compliance goals. The Head of Product partners with Regulatory Services to handle internal and external information requests. They also collaborate with the Global Chief Underwriting Officer on research and strategy related to emerging risks and exposure aggregation. Additionally, this role involves creating, implementing, and monitoring underwriting best practices and quality audits. The incumbent coordinates with business units on information requests, identifies training needs, and develops plans to address them. They work closely with legal and other key stakeholders on policy language drafting and review. The role also provides support to local Product and Underwriting teams, including colleagues in Canada and Bermuda. You will report to the Chief Underwriting Officer, Casualty. What youll be doing Holds a high level of delegated underwriting authority for individual risk decisions. In partnership with the Chief Underwriting Officer, drives the strategy for referral triggers and ensure the right checks and balances are in place to enable profitable growth for the line of business. Given deep technical expertise in the space, may be consulted for account referrals on risks outside of the Americas region. Drives the overall product strategy for the Large Commercial Casualty Underwriting unit in close partnership with the Large Commercial leadership team; ensures the competitiveness of our product and stays abreast of market trends and changes that may influence the evolution of our products; sets a regular cadence for regular and timely reviews and updates of our proprietary product set Maintains a deep understanding of the Casualty (GL, AL & WC, Umbrella/Excess, and Multinational) market and consistently scans the market to ensure our product set retains an industry leading position and serves the evolving needs of our customer base Manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and customer-centricity. Partners closely with counterparts across AXA XL to understand our full suite of products, appetite and opportunities to introduce cross-sell options as well as innovative, integrated products that better address our clients unique exposures Provides a great deal of product line depth and understanding to liases effectively with partners in other cross-functional units, including Credit & Reinsurance Officers, Risk Control, Claims, Legal, Regulatory & Compliance. Helps develop talent within the Product Line team as well as across the Underwriting unit through thoughtful mentoring and coaching interactions Drives the priorities for the Product Line team and works closely with Large Commercial UW leadership to influence the broader strategy of the Large Commercial UW unit Drives the portfolio management of the Casualty book of business, driving the audit process across the UW book, understanding loss considerations and helping the organization achieve financial and operational goals on an annual basis As an industry thought leader for the Large Commercial, will represent AXA XL at key industry events and conferences alongside key broker partners, insureds, and potential prospects Embody the AXA XL culture and act as a role model for all colleagues, irrespective of organizational alignment.
