Regulatory Compliance and Governance expert
At a glance
This role sits at the heart of how the bank understands, governs and operationalises regulation. You work with senior leaders to turn complex regulatory requirements into clear frameworks, decision ready insights and effective governance. From big picture regulatory strategy to concrete processes and evidence, you help the bank make confident, well informed choices in a highly regulated environment. Ready to join our team as a Regulatory Compliance & Governance Expert? Read on.
Your job
As a Regulatory Compliance & Governance Expert, you are a trusted advisor within the Regulatory Risk Oversight (RRO) department. Your focus is regulatory governance, oversight and compliance across the bank. You shape and maintain a clear view of the regulatory framework and how it is applied in practice. You support senior management and governance bodies with high quality insights, management information and decision material on regulatory compliance and regulatory risk. A core part of the role is translating regulation into something that works: you move from regulatory requirements and frameworks to concrete expectations for policies, controls, reporting and governance. You connect strategic intent with operational reality. You work closely with first and second line teams across Risk, Compliance and Client Units to ensure consistent interpretation and positioning. You use data, tooling and structured analysis to highlight key impacts, dependencies and risks. You contribute to governance cycles with clear options, conclusions and context, enabling timely and well reasoned decisions. You also play an active role in improving regulatory processes and governance by identifying gaps, reducing ambiguity and strengthening structure and clarity.
Your work environment
The Regulatory Risk Oversight (RRO) department is a new function within Regulatory Risk & Transformation (RR&T). RRO supports senior management and key governance bodies - including the Regulatory Committee (RC) and the Credit Chain Oversight Committee (CCOC) - by providing forward looking, consolidated and high quality insight into the regulatory framework, compliance risks and governance effectiveness. RRO operates at the intersection of regulation, risk management, compliance and governance. The team works closely with first line business owners and second line risk and compliance functions, including Regulatory Supervisory Relations and regulatory change teams, to ensure a shared understanding and consistent approach across the bank. The environment is dynamic and demanding. It requires sound judgement, intellectual rigour and the ability to engage credibly with senior management and subject matter experts. The team values clarity, quality, governance discipline and pragmatic execution.
