Within GR&S, the Enterprise Security and Fraud (ES&F) sub-division is responsible for the global protection of Vanguard crew, property, data, and client assets. The Global Security Engineering Technical Lead is the subject matter expert responsible for engineering and operational support of physical security technology platforms globally. The role involves collaboration with Global Security, Enterprise Technology teams, and third-party partners to ensure scalable and resilient security solutions. It combines technical delivery, engineering support, and hands-on expertise to maintain compliance with enterprise IT standards and regulatory requirements while addressing evolving threats.

Core Responsibilities

Security Engineering

  • Provide expert level IT technical delivery for the lifecycle management of physical security platforms including servers, middleware, and related infrastructure.
  • Review and approve architectural designs and system configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with IT, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with Vanguards enterprise security strategy.

Implementation & Integration

  • Support the deployment, configuration, and integration of physical security technologies globally.
  • Oversee hardware and software implementation of access control, IP cameras, intrusion detection, and IoT devices.
  • Develop and support API integrations and automation between physical security systems and IT systems such as identity/HR systems, network infrastructure, and databases.

Support & Operations

  • Serve as the primary technical expert supporting global security platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across applications, databases, operating system, and network layers.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term remediation.
  • Ensure high availability, resilience, and performance of security applications.
  • Maintain and enforce technology standards, and system documentation.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Monitor emerging threats and technology trends in Physical and IT security.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement of standards, methodologies, and technologies.
  • Recommend and implement modernization initiatives for security platforms.
  • Participate in system testing, validation, and lifecycle inspections.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with various teams including IT, Network, Database, Cybersecurity, Physical Security, and third-party partners.
  • The lead provides technical guidance during project planning, system upgrades, and technology migrations, and communicates technical impacts to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of development experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications or experience in supporting physical security technology systems is a plus (i.e. CCure, Genetec Security Center, Enterprise-Level VMS & Archiving, Envoy).
