Full Job Description

The Data Governance Analyst provides Data Governancealigned support for the Data Product Architecture governance area and serves as a thought partner and point of contact for their domain of expertise. This role is responsible for maturing the practice across the VWS division, including Operational, Analytical, AI, and 3rd Party data products. Data Product Architecture includes defining standards for data flow architecture, data management features, and semantic layer development, and recommending best practices to minimize risk, cost, and data proliferation. The analyst influences adherence to product architecture standards, monitors conformance, and partners with product and technical teams to prioritize closure of technical debt to achieve compliance

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the vision, roadmap, requirements, and success measures for Data Product Architecture
  • Develop, document, and apply Data Governance policies, procedures, standards, and guidance within the Workplace Solutions division.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for Product Architecture governance, providing coaching, guidance, and controls to practitioners.
  • Conduct maturity assessments and monitor execution of Product Architecture requirements to demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • Enable skill development and adoption of governance practices across teams through coaching, documentation, and forums.
  • Apply AI and other accelerants to mature governance practices and close capability gaps.
  • Assess tools and solutions to ensure alignment with Data Governance and Product Architecture standards.
  • Partner with vendors and SOW teams to ensure Data Governance requirements are understood and met.
  • Apply riskbased critical thinking to balance governance objectives with business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with business and technology partners through established governance and delivery channels.
  • Review and assess data products to identify governance, quality, architecture, or performance risks.
  • Participate in governance forums including Data Governance Council, GenAI Oversight, Architecture Reviews, and Agile ceremonies.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Data Governance Analysts operate primarily through influence and partnership, with limited handson execution focused on governance artifacts, assessments, standards, and enablement.

Competency Areas:

  • Knowledge Management: Serves as the subject matter expert and lead thinker in Product Architecture. Serves as a thought partner to educate others based on their respective knowledge area.
  • Strategy: Develop vision, roadmap, communications, and requirements to empower teams to apply Product Architecture in operations, analytics, AI, and across 3rd parties.
  • Monitoring: Develop guiding principles, scorecards, and success metrics to monitor implementation of the Product Architecture roadmap. Maturity measurements are expected to demonstrate compliance to guiding principles and policies.
  • Communications: Must be a strong communicator and with a focus on realistic plans to execute the vision, while continuously partnering with the teams responsible for implementing the roadmap. Communications are required at all levels ranging from Analyst communities to Senior Directors, clearly communicating on progress and roadblocks. White papers will be periodically required to build practice support. Write policies and similar governance artifacts as needed.
  • Solutions Consulting: Maintains awareness of changing business, technical, and regulatory needs to influence how to apply the knowledge area. Serves as the single point of contact in the knowledge area and helps to recommend techniques to overcome challenges.
  • AI Governance: Apply Data Governance knowledge areas to AI use cases, semantic layers, and AI tools to ensure compliance. Participate in oversight forums to provide requirements and partner with risk teams to ensure oversight practices are followed.
  • Innovate: Continuously learn from the industry. Use Data Governance knowledge areas to solve emerging business challenges and proactively design solutions that mitigate future people, process, or technology risks.
  • Agile Working: Participate in agile practices as needed to capture work, embed requirements in other team outcomes, and report out on progress.
  • Relationships: Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external partners to define data requirements, develop project specifications, and execute projects to ensure that the expected outputs are delivered. Provides review, validation and governance sign-off of project deliverables aligned to established standards.
  • Cross Functional Partnership: Works with internal and external partners, external vendors, and industry contacts to enable best-in-class data management practices. Leads and consults on new projects to ensure operational readiness upon implementation into the live environment.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data governance, enterprise data management, product management, and/or data architecture
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in SQL or Python to support governance analysis and validation
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationshipbuilding skills
