The role is looking for an experienced, full-stack engineer who designs, builds, and supports complex, client-facing applications on Vanguards Secure Site. In this role, you will take ownership of features end-to-end, influence technical direction, and mentor other engineers while delivering reliable, scalable solutions.

About Code Squad

Code Squad is a collaborative full-stack engineering team responsible for modernizing and supporting critical Secure Site experiences, including Accounts, Transaction History, Order Status, and related client workflows. The team works closely with Product, UX, Platform, and Cloud partners to deliver high-impact functionality while continuously improving architecture and reliability. Our work is highly visible and allows for ample opportunity to stand out and present to our leadership team. We are Secure Sites junk drawer team, which has advantages and disadvantages, expect to be kept busy, but with an interesting and diverse set of work!

Technology Stack & Experience

  • Modern front-end development using React, TypeScript, and Microfrontends (MFEs) in Stencil

  • Integration with shared UI frameworks such as AppShell and AEM Content Fragments

  • API-driven architectures including REST and GraphQL / Supergraph concepts.

    • Our APIs are a mix of Java and Angular client-side framework with Nest.js

  • Cloud-native deployment environments, primarily AWS.

  • Observability tools including Splunk, Honeycomb, and Grafana

  • CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.

  • Modern AWS databases like DynamoDB

  • AI assisted development using CoPilot, Claude, or similar LLM

1. Provides senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrates third party products.

2. Translates technical specifications into code for complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Writes programs, develops code, tests artifacts, and produces reports. Employs software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation.

3. Elevates code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provides follow up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.

4. Thoroughly understands software development methodology. Thoroughly understands development architecture standards. Trains and mentors staff with less experience. Resolves elevated issues.

5. Participates in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Explains technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients. Performs systems analysis activities.

6. Thoroughly understands client business functions and technology needs. Has a broad understanding of Vanguard?s technologies, tools, and applications, including those that interface with business area and systems.

7. Interfaces with cross functional team members, and communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.

8. Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures, and verifies that deliverables meet requirements.

9. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years related work experience, with at least one year of development experience.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
