ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Senior Analyst, Middle Office is a member of Japan Operations and serves as a center of excellence for Investment Operations in Japan. The role supports funds and client accounts originated in Japan by providing operational oversight and handson support across the full lifecycle, including account and market openings, ongoing servicing, and transition activities such as custodian changes and account terminations. The position works closely with global GIO teams, local business functions, and thirdparty service providers to ensure high quality service delivery, operational readiness, and adherence to local regulatory and governance requirements.

ROLE SUMMARY

The role is expected to independently manage moderately complex and highimpact middle office activities, applying indepth operational and technical expertise to resolve issues that often involve multiple internal teams and external partners. Working within established guidelines, the role exercises sound judgment, prioritizes competing demands, proactively identifies and escalates risks, and partners with stakeholders across regions to ensure consistent client outcomes and strong control discipline.

Principal Responsibilities

Account Infrastructure & Operational Readiness

  • Review and assess account and market opening infrastructure, processes, and controls.
  • Research existing processes and develop recommendations for enhancements, including policy and procedure updates.
  • Provide operational analysis and business requirements to service providers and internal technology teams.

Client Account Transitions & Change Management

  • Lead and support client account onboarding, custodian changes, and terminations from a middle office and fund administration perspective in Japan.
  • Coordinate transition activities with custodians, brokers, trust banks, fund accountants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures to support transition activities and complex events.

DaytoDay Investment Operations Oversight

  • Perform ongoing oversight of middle office, fund administration, and NAV oversight activities.
  • Support securities operations, including trade instruction oversight, cash projection oversight, and ABOR reconciliation support.
  • Oversee fund accountingrelated processes, such as fee calculations, expense accruals, distributions, and shareholder reporting.
  • Support regulatory and statutory reporting requirements for Japanese investment products.

Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a primary point of contact for GIOsponsored vendor relationships in Japan.
  • Coordinate issue resolution, evaluate service quality, and provide feedback to service providers.
  • Liaise with global GIO teams, representing Japanspecific operational requirements and constraints.

Governance, Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure operational activities and thirdparty deliverables align with governance frameworks and control standards.
  • Identify risks, operational inefficiencies, and control gaps, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance scalability, reduce risk, and support business growth.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in investment operations, middle office, fund accounting, or related functions.
  • Strong understanding of investment operations across commingled funds and separate mandates.
  • Experience working with Japanese trust banks, custodians, trustees, and service providers.
  • Fluent in Japanese with strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Detailoriented, selfmotivated, and capable of working independently while collaborating across regions.
