Whats the role
The Senior Products Derivatives Trader will be responsible for trading derivatives in US and global energy markets and in coordination with global market activity generated by Shell Tradings worldwide network. This is a fast-moving, dynamic and successful trading team that supports the Groups short-term requirements and longer-term strategy.
You will be part of the Trading & Supply Products organization which is at the heart of Shells Downstream business. T&S Products exists as the integrator with the rest of Shell to enable stronger E2E value delivery. We do so through managing and optimizing the physical supply chain, as well as creating value through proprietary trading.
Reporting to the Team Lead, Commodity Derivatives Trading (CDT) in Houston, this role will be responsible for the returns of the Products Derivatives trading book for CDT, and the opportunity to drive its growth. As Shells single market interface to US exchanges for Products futures transactions, you will be part of a wider global team of Sales & Trading, and Specialist Derivatives Traders.
What youll be doing
Managing a proprietary refined products derivatives trading book through careful strategic analysis of the Crude, Products, and Agriculture markets using futures, swaps, and options
Opportunity to trade the refinery margin and all cuts of the barrel
Coverage assistance with other roles on the Houston team
Participation in global team strategy discussions
Confirming overall trade book accuracy on transactions/exposure/profitability
Managing internal and external customer flow business and trading around exposure
Participation in a wide array of business development activities to find new sources of value from internal and external financial counterparties
Ownership and promotion of CDTs execution platform
Driving short and medium-term strategy
100 percent adherence to all of Shells Policies & Procedures, Code of Conduct and Compliance Manual
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer
Bachelors degree or equivalent relevant experience required
Minimum of 5 years of combined crude and products derivatives trading.
Successful energy commodities derivatives trading experience in initiating, implementing, and managing positions/strategies, which have generated consistent profitability over several years
Experience quoting, executing, and warehousing customer flow
Business development experience in deal structuring and relationship building with third parties a strong plus
Highly focused on bottom line profitability and proficient in risk/exposure management
Excellent interpersonal skills, professional maturity and good work ethics are necessary to succeed in this role. Proven track record in interacting with and managing customers and other stakeholders with good outcome in negotiating and concluding deals.
A self-starter with a proactive approach to problem solving and displays a strong commercial acumen and knowing how to adapt trading strategies in a fast-paced and evolving commercial environment. Team chemistry is a must.
What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $184,000 - $276,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
