Whats the role
The new SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that will support Shells business & assets around the world.
The vision of SEAM is to provide capability across the spectrum of Safety, Environment and Asset Management with:
- Shaping the future ways of working through introducing to the business new technology and news way of working, including e.g. digital, SBO, and real-time, data-driven, end-to-end optimization and risk management, but also global programs like Human Performance Based Safety Philosophy.
- Providing performance feedback driving disciplined execution to deliver reliable, predictable results
- Helping the businesses build their improvement plans and provide support to execute them
- Sustaining performance through strong core capabilities (internal, including SBO & contingent) through building expertise and a company-wide consistent approach
What youll be doing
The (Associate) Engineer Digital & Drawing Management will be part of the VP TAS organization. The VP TAS will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Support (TAS) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shells Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAS provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.
The role will be part of the extended asset team supporting the Asset. This will be a key role in the IM space and needs to grow and evolve with the asset (from the project stage to steady state operations). The key aspect for this role in the first 2-3 years is working collaboratively with the Asset team in executing the preparatory work to meet asset startup objectives. This role will eventually manage the TAS based team supporting the asset in the space of document and (including 1D/2D/3D data)
Also follow EDR (Engineering Design Request) standards for changes requested by projects and maintenance and works with document controls to ensure the changes are captured in document management system (HEXAGON SDX).
The role requires expertise in mechanical piping detail engineering and close engagement with the operating units in updating technical specifications, managing overall progress, and suggesting improvement solutions for improving the overall quality of work. The candidate will also provide training and guidance to other drafters while replicating best practices from stakeholders and partner organizations.
- Experience in drafting and detailing of new or revised technical drawings primarily on piping and other disciplines such as electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and civil related to manufacturing petrochemical industry.
- Skilled in the Smart Plant P&ID intelligent, auto-cad drafting tool and Raster cad.
- Read & comprehend general drawings of the process & facilities like PEFS (Process Engineering Flow Scheme) / P&ID, PFD (Process flow diagram), EFD (Engineering flow diagram).
- Ability to understand the redline mark ups and should have the knowledge to pull all related drawings/revisions from the asset document management system (ASSAI).
- Knowledge in international codes and drafting standards and ability to refer and interpret the asset specific standards.
- Understand the completeness and consistency across the entire project with quality with reduced rework.
- Field experience in verification of site discrepancies and onsite drawing updates can be an added plus.
- Highly collaborative and effective communication, closely working with site drafters, inspectors and field engineers.

- The role primarily involves the remote support to the Shell operating units/sites in the drawing management & updates.
What you bring
- Oil & Gas/Petrochemical Industry - operating assets and/or a varied range of greenfield/brownfield projects
- Mechanical / Engineering Degree
- Strong knowledge in 2D tools such as Auto-cad, Smart plant P&ID and Raster cad
- Acting as interface with other disciplines to overcome design / drafting issues
- Experience working with Shell based assets can be an added plus
- Familiar with international codes, standards, recommended practices, and knowledge level in Shell Dep will be added advantage
- Mechanical Piping engineering design & selection of piping components, comprehending, creating & updating the drawings / 3D models of technical disciplinary drawings viz plot plan, piping GA & isometrics, P&ID/PEFS, PFD, respectively in design, drafting & engineering firms/ consultancy firms/ plant environments/industry past the professional degree/diploma.
- Reviewing and understanding of all the technical documents primarily piping, also other disciplines such as electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and civil.
- Managing drawing revisions and documentation in ASSAI

- Excellent communication skills and quick learner. Be a good team player. Ability to prioritize and ensure delivery of priorities for the area of responsibility. Flexible and adaptable to change, with track record of demonstrating initiative, analytical capabilities and problem solving.
- Ability to apply engineering best practices, codes, and standards to identify issues, recommend improvements, and implement solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management with business interface exposure
- Strong interpersonal leadership skills are critical due to the requirement for effective communication of complex issues across multiple offices and teams.
