The scope of Business Controls Unit (BCU) covers Non-Financial Risk Management and regulatory compliance within an Investment Banking business supporting both Markets and Banking Products. Team responsibilities cover of risk disciplines in support of SCIB business and clients including, Operational Risk Framework implementation and embedding, Trading & Banking Controls, Conduct, Fraud, Regulatory Controls & UK Regulatory change.
 

In this exciting, critical role, you will sit in the First Line of Defence (1LoD) working hand in hand with front office teams supporting risk ownership and control assurance for trading and banking activities, ensuring compliance with the firms operational risk framework and regulatory requirements.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Supporting effective Markets & Banking business supervision and on-going enhancements in line with industry best practice

  • Establishing and executing controls to detect abnormal trading behaviours and mitigate internal fraud

  • Supporting robust business governance and reporting requirements, including coordinating periodic reporting such as dashboards, KPIs and incident management

  • Daily monitoring and management of risk metrics and escalation of breaches

  • Producing monthly and quarterly reports for local and global risk forums

  • Supporting the automation and digitalisation of processes and reporting utilising latest industry tooling and technologies

  • UK representative on global business & COO initiatives

  • Partnering effectively with stakeholders globally, at all levels across the three lines of defence

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within an investment banking business

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex risk information to non-experts

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in conducting risk analyses, assessments and preparing reports

  • Experience in automation and digitalisation of complex processes, reporting and MI capabilities

  • Proficiency in risk management software, statistical analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Good experience in operational risk management, working in a hands on, fast paced environment

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing regulatory environments and emerging risks

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Business administration, Risk management, or a related field

This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles).
