Associate, Financing Group, Global Banking, Asia Pacific

Country: Singapore

The position is responsible for supporting the Financing Group, Global Banking in Asia Pacific.  Primary activities of Financing Group include fund finance, infrastructure / project finance, real estate finance, asset finance, securitization and other structured financing solutions. Primary functions of Financing Group include origination, execution, structuring, documentation, cash flow modelling / financial analysis, negotiation and closing of structured finance transactions and ongoing management of the existing structured finance loan portfolio.  Candidate will collaborate with other teams / departments in origination / relationship coverage, syndication / distribution, management of middle-office, legal, market- / credit-related functions / risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior colleagues and internal stakeholders to promote and develop Santanders Financing Group in the Asia Pacific region.

  • Manage the preparation of internal credit papers and assist with coordination of due diligence, term sheet negotiation, documentation, and financial closing activities.

  • Develop and operate complex financial models, ensuring they accurately reflect transaction terms and due diligence, running sensitivity analysis, and making adjustments as deals evolve.

  • Structure and evaluate transactions through financial projections, scenario analysis, risk assessment and return analysis, including local tax, legal and regulatory matters.

  • Instruct and supervise unit business manager in handling post-closing activities such as SPV management, cashflow, valuation and provisions for the loan portfolio.

  • Assist with business origination activities and preparation of marketing materials.

  • Support Santanders global coverage by collaborating with stakeholders in Europe, United Kingdom, United States, and Latin America.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or Engineering preferred.

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in infrastructure / project finance, corporate finance, M&A, financial advisory; prior financial modelling experience required.

  • Proven track record of successful financial closings, including experience with international / regional corporates, financial sponsors and government entities; established network of industry contacts is an advantage.

  • Adept at handling multiple tasks, logical reasoning and strong quantitative / analytical skills.  Proven ability to deliver in a fast paced and result oriented environment.

  • Strong interdisciplinary skills covering financing, tax, accounting, financial modelling, due diligence, and documentation.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to convey ideas and positions clearly.

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to establish collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work within a multi-disciplined team setting, while retaining accountability for results.

  • Fluency in English is a pre-requisite; other local languages will be viewed favourably.
