What is the opportunity?

RBCs Mid-Market M&A team advises private companies on divestitures, acquisitions, buyouts and carveouts. We are Canadas largest dedicated Mid-Market M&A team within RBCs Corporate Client Group in Commercial Banking. As Senior Director, you will build on and lead RBCs M&A presence in Winnipeg, driving growth across Manitoba and Saskatchewan. This senior role combines strategic leadership, client relationship management, and end-to-end transaction execution.

What will you do?

  • Originate, pitch, and win M&A mandates by building trust with entrepreneurial clients and leveraging RBCs platform

  • Advise business owners on complex transactions, guiding them through negotiation and closing processes

  • Partner with Commercial Banking, Wealth Management, Private Banking and Capital Markets teams to identify opportunities and strengthen RBCs brand

  • Lead mandates from origination to close, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to accounting, legal, and tax standards

  • Mentor and supervise junior staff, fostering a culture of professionalism and excellence

  • Expand RBCs profile through external networking and relationship-building with private equity firms, legal counsel and tax advisors

What You Bring

Must have

  • 10+ years in private company M&A with a proven track record of originating and closing Mid-Market transactions along with deep understanding of Canadian accounting, valuation, legal, and tax principles in M&A contexts

  • Established connections with regional stakeholders (e.g., private equity, legal, tax advisors) and ability to build and sustain client relationships, lead pitches, and manage transactions independently

  • Exceptional written and verbal skills for crafting pitches and presenting to stakeholders

  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and committed to delivering value-added advice with integrity

  • Willingness and ability to travel within Manitoba and Saskatchewan as needed

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree and/or professional credentials (e.g., MBA, CPA, CFA, CBV) or equivalent experience
