Your future role within QRT

We are seeking a motivated and versatile Production Support Engineer to join our Sydney office. This permanent role is ideal for candidates who thrive in dynamic environments, are eager to support multiple technology streams (frontend, backend, risk, data), and possess a strong drive for both operational excellence and development innovation.

What you will do:

Production Support (50%)

  • Provide comprehensive user and system support across all technology streams.
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot production systems to ensure stability and reliability, with a particular emphasis on data platforms and processes.
  • Respond promptly to incidents and service requests, diagnosing and resolving issues affecting data flows, trading applications, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform daily health checks and validation of trading and data systems before market open, ensuring all components are operational.
  • Manage and support static and dynamic databases, including troubleshooting data integrity issues and performing routine maintenance.
  • Coordinate with development, risk, and business teams to resolve data-related issues and implement fixes or enhancements.
  • Support release management activities, including deployment, verification, and rollback procedures for data and trading applications.
  • Maintain and update documentation for operational procedures, incident response, and data workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and best practices for data management and system support.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and post-incident reviews, focusing on continuous improvement of data stream reliability and performance.
  • Provide user support and training for data-related tools and processes, acting as a key contact for data stream queries and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with global support teams to share knowledge, escalate issues, and drive resolution of complex data stream problems.
  • Support evening and weekend operations as required, ensuring critical data and trading systems remain available and performant.

Development & Automation (50%)

  • Design and implement automation tools to streamline operational workflows.
  • Develop scripts and applications for data quality checks, monitoring, alerting, and recovery processes.
  • Work on projects involving cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and performance optimization.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in a technical support role, ideally within trading or financial services.
  • 2+ years of development experience (Python essential; C# highly desirable).
  • Experience with AWS/cloud platforms, cloud monitoring and automation.
  • Experience with Bash and PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with Windows desktop/server and Linux OS administration.
  • Strong relational database skills (SQL Server, Postgres).
  • Experience supporting trading platforms and infrastructure.
  • Strong problem-solving and business analytics capabilities.
  • Ownership mindset with a commitment to issue resolution.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Good-to-have:
