Full Job Description

At Perella Weinberg, our Activism & Shareholder Advisory Team provides advise to clients on all matters related to shareholder activism and takeover defense, including vulnerability assessment, activism preparedness, corporate governance, live defense, proxy fights, contested M&A, as well as broader hostile situations.

The group is looking for an experienced analyst to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be energetic and passionate in establishing a career in shareholder activism.  This individual will have a strong foundational knowledge of investment banking and experience through previous roles.  The ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing, is critical, as is the ability to perform under pressure.  This individual will be interacting daily with senior leaders at the firm, so the ability to confidently present their ideas and engage in constructive debate is a minimum requirement. This role offers a unique opportunity for the right candidate to build a career in one of most critical, rapidly evolving areas within the merger landscape, under the guidance of some of the most experienced M&A professionals in the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with counterparts in industry coverage groups to prepare client presentations

  • Understanding the key provisions in a public company’s governance documents

  • Providing real-time judgments and insight into trading dynamics for use with clients

  • Developing thoughtful research on public investors and the shareholder activism landscape

  • Maintaining the group’s various databases

  • Acting as the day-to-day point of contact with clients on live situations

  • Coordinating with external parties on live situations (e.g., lawyers and proxy solicitors)

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year experience in a classic investment banking coverage role

  • Ideally some experience in a market-facing role (private-side capital raising or public-side investing)

  • Ideally some experience of working on a live shareholder activism situation

  • A solid understanding of company valuation concepts (comparable multiples, DCF, LBO, etc.)

  • A keen interest in global markets and macroeconomic environment

  • A highly organized and analytical mind

  • The ability to synthesize large amounts of data

  • Exceptional project management skills with ability to prioritize competing projects and deadlines

  • Intellectual curiosity and creativity, with a demonstrated interest in learning about M&A

  • A self-starting and proactive personality

  • The ability to thrive under tight deadlines and on real-time developing situations

  • The highest standard of integrity
