**Senior Data Scientist / AI Engineer - Generative AI** Lead the development of Generative AI applications, collaborating with business stakeholders and experienced colleagues. Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist / AI Engineer to build and scale Generative AI applications. The role is permanent based in Stockholm or Helsinki. We work in a hybrid model and expect team members to work three days per week in the office. This is an English-speaking working environment.
About the team
You will join Nordeas AI & Machine Learning team, part of the group financial crime prevention (GFCP) unit that provides financial crime prevention services across Nordea. We use AI to improve how we detect and investigate financial crime across the bank, helping to keep our customers, our company, and society safe.
We are a team of about 25 colleagues based in Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen. We have already launched Nordeas first generative AI product and are now building the next wave of high impact generative AI use cases.

In this role, you will
- Identify and prototype high impact GenAI projects with business stakeholders

Your background and skills
- MSc or PhD in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience is also valued
- 5 years+ experience building and deploying production ML/AI systems in python
- 2 year+ experience developing generative AI applications, using LLM APIs, RAG, modern orchestration, agent-based patterns or other relevant technologies
- Strong systems design skills for ML & AI applications
- A proven track-record of turning ideas into prototype, and prototype into production
- Ability to evaluate and improve AI application quality using structured testing and experimentation
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
