Job Description


What this entails:

● Support IFS in executing advisory mandates for renewable energy companies and projects in primarily Sub-Saharan Africa, but also in Southeast Asia, and Latin America.

● Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

‐ Supporting the identification and screening of advisory opportunities.

‐ Reviewing financing options to support growth strategies.

‐ Contribute to advice on optimal capital structures.

‐ Preparing pitch books and presentations.

‐ Creating, reviewing and analyzing financial models.

‐ Contributing to the (project) management of the transaction processes, including the preparation of information packs and leading due diligence processes.

‐ Working closely with our investment team to build cross- service line relationships with our clients.

A successful Associate for IFS is one who:

Required Skills

‐ A solid understanding of accounting accompanied by strong Excel modelling skills

‐ Able to link the 3 financial statements and thereby understanding how to build a forecast

‐ A logical framework for problem-solving with strong attention to detail

‐ Ability to distil large amounts of data into a simple format

‐ Clear presentation skills to demonstrate the structured problem-solving approach

‐ The ability to easily zoom in on details and zoom out to high-level strategy

‐ Strong written and oral communicator in English

Nice to have

‐ Demonstrable knowledge of macros in Excel and applications in financial models

‐ Fluency in French

We will be testing for all the above during our rigorous interview process. While experience and education matters (see below), attitude, mindset, excel skills and a drive for getting things done are most important.

Experience:

● At least 3 years work experience with (preferably energy) corporate finance advisory, private equity, project finance, debt structured finance, or project development in Africa or other emerging markets having worked for an investment advisory firm, investment fund or developer.

● Strong academic records from a top-tier institution.


Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience


As an associate, you will work with the Head of Impact Finance Services (IFS) and/or other colleagues to prepare advisory proposals, conduct in-depth due diligence, create, review and analyze financial models (in some cases from scratch), prepare information memoranda, present the investment case to potential investors or lenders, project manage and forge strong working relationships with client stakeholders and other professionals. You will have exposure to a wide range of asset types, innovative solutions and clients. You will team up with your colleagues to create the best solution for the client and support other strategic initiatives.
