Structured Finance Lawyer, Vice President

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Structured Finance Lawyer in Legal and Compliance to advise on several different asset classes, including credit, rates and FX. The actual tasks that the candidate will be involved in will vary from time to time, depending on business strategy and initiatives.

Team Profile
The lawyers and other professionals of the Legal & Compliance Division (LCD) provide a wide range of services to our business units. They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross-border transactions; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program; or manage or diffuse actual or potential disputes. They preserve the Firm’s invaluable reputation for integrity and protect the Firm from sanctions with policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements around the world. They also strive to maintain cooperative relationships with governmental policy makers and the regulatory and self-regulatory agencies that govern the Firm’s businesses.

In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firm’s management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk.

What you'll do in the role:
• Providing legal advice on structured finance transactions, including credit derivatives, structured derivative transactions, financing transactions (including loans, repos, and TRSs) and structured note issuances (including repackagings).
• Providing legal advice on new/existing products, including:
- Advising on development of new product structures for distribution in EMEA focusing on management of legal and reputation risk.
- Assessing and advising on UK and EU legal and regulatory requirements, including monitoring and advising on developments.
- Advising on restructuring and unwinds of existing transactions and products.
- Helping with the development of template documentation.
- Assisting with legal questions arising in respect of bespoke transactions.
- Other ad-hoc queries, which may include reviewing other types of documentation, including e.g. venue access agreements, services agreements or broker agreements.

In addition, the Fixed Income Legal team often supports divisional or firm wide initiatives, so the candidate will have an opportunity to work on a varied set of issues beyond fixed income transactions.

What we’re looking for:
• Typically, 9-10+ years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
• A Lawyer with strong derivatives trading and structured finance transactions.
• Experience in credit derivatives would be preferred, but not essential.
• England and Wales qualified.
• Good knowledge of EU/UK financial services regulation.
