Profile Description
We’re seeking someone to join our Enterprise Technology team as a Mainframe Python Engineer, in Enterprise Z with expertise in DB2, data visualization, and advanced Excel capabilities. This role focuses on building automation, analytics, and reporting solutions within mainframe environments. Experience with performance monitoring tools such as RMF or SMF is a significant plus but not required.

This is Director position that manages and optimizes technical infrastructure and ensures the seamless operation of IT systems to support business needs effectively.

What you’ll do in the role:
Application Development
- Design and develop Python scripts and applications for mainframe automation and data processing.
- Integrate Python solutions with DB2 databases for efficient data access and manipulation.
- Modernize workflows and improve operational efficiency through automation.
Database Management
- Write and optimize SQL queries for DB2 on z/OS.
- Support schema design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
Data Analysis & Visualization
- Analyze large datasets from mainframe systems.
- Create dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or Python libraries (Matplotlib, Seaborn).
- Build advanced Excel reports leveraging PivotTables, PowerPivot, and complex formulas.
Performance Monitoring (Preferred)
- Utilize RMF and SMF data for system performance analysis.
- Identify trends, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.
- Assist in capacity planning and workload forecasting.
Collaboration
- Work closely with infrastructure, operations, and development teams.
- Communicate technical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- At least 6+ years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
- Strong Python programming experience in mainframe integration contexts.
- Proficiency in DB2 and SQL for data manipulation and reporting.- Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, PowerPivot, complex formulas).
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) or Python visualization libraries.- Familiarity with JCL and mainframe batch processing concepts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with RMF (Resource Measurement Facility) and SMF (System Management Facility).
- Knowledge of mainframe performance tuning and observability tools.
- Exposure to REXX or Java on mainframe.- Understanding of capacity planning and workload modeling.
- Qualifications - bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.-
- Experience in mainframe environments with Python development.- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
