The role will reside within the Firm Risk Management's Credit Risk Management area which is a team dedicated to evaluating credit risk transactions considering the availability and appropriateness of arrangements for reducing risk or risk mitigation. The department also assigns Internal Credit Ratings; establishes and manages credit risk limits in accordance with the risk tolerance established by the Board; monitors and reports on credit risk exposures on a regular basis to the Chief Risk Officer and Firm Risk Management. CRM also interacts with business units to ensure that credit risk assessments are factored into business decisions.

This role is within the Funds coverage team in London, which is responsible for the credit assessment and risk management of the Firm's business with asset management clients, and provides product coverage for Morgan Stanley's Institutional Equities Division.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

What will you be doing?
• Assess the financial strength of asset management counterparties (mutual funds, hedge funds, family offices, private equity structures) through due diligence meetings, review of investment strategies, and detailed financial and market analysis to determine credit ratings, set trading limits and negotiate trading terms

• Liaise with Credit Risk colleagues across multiple global locations in support of the risk management of our diverse global client base
• Engage in close dialogue with Business Unit Risk Management, Sales & Trading, and Client Onboarding on fund-related requests, including exposure analysis, trade approvals, and credit risk mitigation
• Drive continuous improvement by engaging in strategic initiatives to refine Credit Risk identification, enhance processes and elevate risk reporting with the IT and risk reporting teams

What we’re looking for:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Relevant internships or experience within Financial Institutions would be beneficial
• Understanding of financial markets, financing instruments, associated legal documentation and lending structures
• Strong analytical skills; experience in financial analysis and modelling and ability to use SQL and Python (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
• Fluency in English is required
