Skills and Competencies

  • Strong academic background with a first degree in an analytical discipline; postgraduate qualification in Economics or Finance is highly advantageous.
  • Deep expertise in credit analysis and/or macroeconomic principles, demonstrated through advanced quantitative analysis, publications, and market-recognized thought leadership.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive analytical experience within a financial institution, asset manager, ratings agency, or public accounting firm, with exposure to complex and high-profile credits.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate sophisticated credit views clearly, concisely, and persuasively to diverse audiences including investors, issuers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing junior analysts and managers, fostering high analytical standards and professional growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively originate, lead, and deliver complex analytical research initiatives and cross-functional projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel (including macros and advanced modeling), Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent quantitative, financial, and statistical research capabilities; working knowledge of econometrics and analytical tools (e.g., EViews) is a strong advantage.
  • Full professional fluency in English, both written and spoken, Spanish is nice to have.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Implementing AI solutions to drive strategic transformation and operational efficiency. Strong experience using AI tools to lead innovation initiatives. 

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Advanced degree and/or professional certification such as CFA strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide senior-level credit leadership and authoritative analytical insight to support high-quality, independent credit opinions and influential research outcomes.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of complex, high-profile corporate credits and recommend ratings for new issuers or changes to existing ratings with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Serve as a trusted credit authority and be actively sought out to participate in Rating Committees across multiple portfolios and sectors.
  • Author and oversee the production of broad, industry-level research that contributes to market thought leadership.
  • Engage with the media on industry and credit-related topics in coordination with senior colleagues, representing the organization with credibility and confidence.
  • Speak at internal forums, sharing expertise, market insights, and analytical best practices.
  • Lead and contribute to team-specific and line-of-business-wide initiatives, including analytical projects, process enhancements, and system improvements.
  • Play a key role in mentoring, coaching, and developing Analysts, Associate Analysts, and AVPs, including providing first-level review of their research.
  • Advise and counsel junior team members on complex credit issues, supporting consistent analytical quality.
  • Lead issuer meetings, including on-site visits, and engage independently with investors and bankers, with limited oversight.
  • Represent the organization at external conferences, roundtables, and investor events as a senior subject matter expert.
  • Drive investor outreach at both issuer-specific and industry levels, strategically expanding and strengthening the investor base.
  • Arrange and lead investor meetings, delivering clear, high-impact credit perspectives.

The Corporate Finance Group provides independent credit opinions on a broad range of non-financial corporate issuers, playing a vital role in global capital markets. The Brazil team combines deep local market knowledge with global analytical standards, operating in a highly collaborative environment to deliver insightful, forward-looking research while continuously embracing data-driven and innovative analytical approaches.
