Core Application Support Engineer

This role is responsible for the management of both Pre-Trade and Post-Trade production application systems, ensuring smooth operation and optimal performance. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for software deployment and production environment management, while also contributing to project work associated with the applications they support. This is a highly collaborative role that requires close partnership with global development teams, QA, Infrastructure Technology, and portfolio managers.

The ideal candidate is a bright, motivated self-starter with the ability to multitask effectively in a high-pressure environment. They will play an important role within the production engineering support team, which is focused on leveraging automation tools to streamline processes and support an expanding enterprise footprint.

The production engineering support team utilizes a combination of in-house and industry-standard tools for configuration management and application deployment. The team delivers significant value by helping ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software, while maintaining the overall stability, performance, and reliability of the organizations technology solutions.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Develop subject matter expertise in the Trading Services applications supported within the region

  • Support, monitor, and proactively maintain the multiple post/pre trade trading environments

  • Build strong working relationships with trading groups, Middle Office, and Back Office teams, serving as the primary regional point of contact for issue escalations

  • Liaise with global development teams to coordinate and participate in software releases and new version deployments

  • Partner with global counterparts to ensure seamless coverage across regions

  • Investigate and resolve technical application issues independently where possible, while leveraging teammates when necessary

  • Manage communications with trading staff and internal stakeholders regarding issues, impacts, and resolutions

  • Enhance environment management tools to reduce risk and improve support team efficiency

  • Contribute to process automation initiatives to drive efficiency and streamline support functions

  • Document solutions and expand the knowledge base to enable effective issue resolution across a wide range of scenarios

Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Bachelors degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science or a related discipline

  • Strong experience with SQL, Linux, Python, and scripting technologies

  • Prior experience with kdb+/q is a plus

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand both detailed issues and the broader business context

  • Solid understanding of, and experience working across, the full SDLC lifecycle

  • Strong team player with a proactive approach and willingness to support others

  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and constantly evolving environment, with a strong sense of urgency

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability

  • Prior experience utilizing A.I in a trading environment a plus

The estimated base salary range for this position is $175,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individuals experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
