Role Description:

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineers or Senior Infrastructure Cloud Engineers with proven experience in cloud computing platforms (GCP). You will be tasked with transforming business requirements into robust cloud infrastructure solutions which forms the underlying foundation for all distributed systems and applications of the LSE Group.


As a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), you will lead the design, implementation, and management of our GCP-based cloud infrastructure. Using your extensive GCP expertise, you will support and enhance our cloud environment, ensuring scalability, high availability, security, and cost-efficiency. This role involves close collaboration with various teams to drive cloud adoption and implement GCP standard methodologies.

Main Responsibilities:

GCP Infrastructure Design and Implementation:

  • Architect and implement scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure using GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, VPC, and Interconnect.

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and YAML configuration files.

Security and Compliance

  • Apply GCP security best practices including IAM, VPC Service Controls, Cloud KMS, and Organization Policies.

  • Ensure compliance with standards like GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2 using GCPs compliance tools and frameworks.

Automation and DevOps Integration

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab pipelines.

  • Automate deployments and infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and GitOps practices.

Networking and Hybrid Connectivity

  • Design and manage VPC networks, subnets, firewall rules and policies, Cloud NAT, and Private Google Access.

  • Implement sophisticated networking features such as VPC Peering, Shared VPC, VPN, and Cloud Interconnect.

  • Collaborate with network engineers to design and manage hybrid cloud solutions using Dedicated Interconnect or Partner Interconnect.

Documentation and Architecture Diagrams

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation and architectural diagrams using Lucidchart, Draw.io, or similar tools.

Agile Practices and Teamwork Tools

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives).

  • Use Jira for task tracking and Confluence for documentation and teamwork.

Automated Testing and CI/CD for IaC

  • Implement automated testing for Terraform and Python using tools like Terratest and pytest.

  • Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines to ensure infrastructure reliability.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with GCP innovations and evaluate new services for potential adoption.

  • Propose and implement improvements to enhance performance, security, and developer experience.

Required Skills:

Experience

  • 3+ years in cloud engineering or related field.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with GCP services and architecture.

Technical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of GCP services: Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, VPC, Cloud Interconnect, GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Network Connectivity Center (NCC), Workload Identity Federation (WIF).

  • Strong experience with Terraform and YAML for Infrastructure as Code.

  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools: GitLab pipelines, Cloud Build.

  • Advanced networking knowledge: VPC design, VPN, Cloud NAT, Interconnect, Peering, firewall rules and policies.
