POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Marketing team is seeking a curious, dynamic, and highly collaborative Financial Writer. The role will focus primarily on writing a diverse array of content for an audience of financial advisors, private bankers, family offices, and their clients.

The Financial Writer should be both an excellent writer/editor and a strong communicator who can build relationships across the firm. The successful candidate will be able to understand and quickly synthesize complex financial topics into digestible, eye-catching content for the wealth audience and have a deep understanding of the competitive field.

Being a team player who can work with many different stakeholders on the marketing team and beyond, including offering guidance on best practices for content development and messaging, is essential. Candidates should be responsive, creative, open to feedback and new ideas, and a problem-solver who can figure out ways to get things done.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Idea Development:
    • Work with channel marketers and sales teams as needed to identify bottom-up needs for content and education
    • Work with investment teams and product specialists to develop top-down ideas about topical features and issues.
    • Keep up with trends among competitors and the press in wealth marketing in the alternatives space to pitch ideas proactively.
    • Learn from internal analytics about which pieces are generating the most traffic and engagement and apply lessons to future projects.
    • Develop consensus and buy-in to get projects greenlit and kicked off.
  • Content Development:
    • Conduct well-researched interviews with investment teams and product experts using a respectful tone.
    • Write investment content in a variety of formats, including short web articles, longer thought leadership (white papers), educational pieces, email campaigns, sales aids, and video scripts.
    • Incorporate data and data visualization thoughtfully into pieces.
    • Meet high editorial standards, including attention to informational accuracy, structure, grammar/style, tone, and optimization for SEO/AEO.
  • Project & Workflow Management:
    • Pull projects to completion from a variety of starting points, including editing fully formed drafts that come from investment teams or product specialists, advancing an outline into a first draft, and writing from scratch based on interviews or provided materials.
    • Work with production-oriented marketing partners to take pieces from beginning to end – this includes colleagues in design, web development, compliance, and communications.
    • Obtain and reconcile necessary feedback from product, investment, and marketing teams in order to reach a final version approved by all parties.
    • Help maintain the editorial calendar, writing to deadline and communicating to marketing and other partners about changes in timelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience writing for a financial services firm or a financial services publication
  • Experience writing about alternative investments preferred
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to write both engaging short-form content (emails, sales aids, short articles) and longer-form articles/white papers
  • Problem-solver mindset
  • Ability to keep multiple projects in different phases of completion afloat at the same time, while also keeping stakeholders informed about progress
  • A positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid, and deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to build trust and strong relationships throughout the firm
  • Demonstrated use of AI, workflow tools, and digital compliance systems.
  • Working knowledge of basic chart-making and math functions in Excel and ability to make simple slides in PowerPoint is a plus

This is the expected annual base salary range for this New York-based position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
