Full Job Description

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia

Join our dynamic team to modernize controls and governance while delivering technology outcomes that strengthen the Australia Equities business.

As a Technical Project Manager III within the APAC Australia Branch, Markets Equity Technology (Australia Equities), you will lead complex, delivery-led initiatives across regional and local stakeholders to improve delivery discipline, risk posture, and operational transparency. You will apply strong technical fluency and analytical reasoning to translate ambiguous business, regulatory, and operational needs into executable plans with measurable outcomes. This role is governance-focused with an explicit hands-on engineering expectation: you will drive end-to-end execution while also designing and building backend services and automations (including AI-enabled tooling) that uplift controls, efficiency, and auditability.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives for Australia Equities, defining scope, milestones, dependencies, and measurable outcomes
  • Run delivery governance including integrated plans, critical path management, milestone tracking, RAID/decision logs, and escalation through closure of blockers
  • Provide concise, high-quality senior stakeholder updates on progress, delivery health, key risks, and decisions required
  • Ensure initiatives adhere to SDLC/ADLC, governance standards, and change management processes with a strong controls mindset
  • Identify delivery and control risks early, provide independent challenge, and propose pragmatic, impact-weighted mitigation options
  • Embed auditability and operational readiness into delivery plans (documentation, evidence capture, readiness checkpoints, and post-release verification)
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using .NET/C#, including APIs and service integrations supporting Australia Equities workflows
  • Own technical deliverables end-to-end (solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-release validation/runtime support)
  • Build delivery and controls automation (dashboards, metrics pipelines, workflow automations) to improve transparency, quality, and risk management
  • Apply secure coding practices and embed security controls throughout design and implementation
  • Coordinate across product, engineering, operations, infrastructure, and vendors to manage dependencies and support UAT, cutovers, and stable production outcomes

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years experience in financial services, with a blend of software engineering, technology delivery/project management, and technology controls exposure
  • Strong hands-on backend development experience in .NET/C# (Java/Python as additional experience), including REST/JSON APIs and service-to-service integrations
  • Proven experience leading delivery in complex cross-functional environments (planning, dependency management, risk management, stakeholder communications)
  • Strong understanding of SDLC/ADLC, secure coding practices, and testing strategy
  • Demonstrated experience operating within governance, risk, and control frameworks (change management, evidence capture, audit readiness)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical detail into clear status, risks, and decisions for senior stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple workstreams under time pressure
  • Experience with Agile tools and practices (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) and proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word; MS Project a plus)
  • Awareness of AI and emerging technologies, with interest and practical ability to apply AI-enabled tooling to improve delivery/engineering outcomes

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of Australia Equity market products (Cash Equities; Futures/Options) and front-to-back operating processes
  • Experience delivering controls uplift, governance remediation, platform modernization, or operational risk reduction initiatives
  • Familiarity with data platforms, analytics tooling, and data quality/lineage concepts
  • Demonstrated use of automation or AI tools to improve reporting, delivery workflows, testing efficiency, or operational processes
Lead transformative tech projects, leveraging analytical skills and technical knowledge for high-impact results.
