An exciting opportunity to join the Global Client Onboarding team, based in EMEA, who are responsible for project managing the end-to-end implementation of new Institutional client mandates, JPM Fund launches and Life-Cycle events on the respective investment accounting platform(s). The team, work cross-functionally with Clients, Senior Representatives from Investment Desks, Product Development, Client Account Management, Compliance, Risk and Control functions as well as subject matter experts in Investment Operations, Technology and Third-Party vendors.

Job summary

Accounting and Regulatory Reporting activities include advising clients and prospects on investment accounting best practices and reporting requirements on various accounting basis (Statutory, local GAAP, or IFRS) as they relate across a variety of client types and geographies. Additionally, this function partners on various aspects in client services, administration, and operational support offering best practice solutions for client data transparency and integration leveraging internal systems, platforms, and third-party data via our partnership with Clearwater Analytics.  Working together with the other members of the team, this role will establish strong cross-organizational relationships, communication processes and business practices that leverage organizational resources, investment capabilities and content of JPMAM. Partnering with the product teams in front, middle, and back-office functions and external market and data vendors to develop actionable content for our clients will build success. This position requires extensive interaction with both clients and internal teams.

You will be required to provide a thorough understanding of the investment accounting and regulatory reporting needs across a wide variety of asset types, including fixed income, equities, alternatives, derivatives, and various fund structures. The candidate should have strong accounting, and financial reporting skills developed through relevant studies at university, together with proven collaboration across multiple business lines, and a solid “clients come first” mentality. It is expected you will be able to work independently across multiple geographies and have a general understanding of common regulatory reporting pronouncements, rules, and disclosures. Additionally, you will play an important role in developing new client relationships and supporting existing business, while evolving what JPMAM can offer clients. 

The successful candidate will enjoy developing investment solutions using best practices and creating client presentations to communicate the proposed solution in a clear and understandable manner, as you develop your understanding of the various industries we serve, the role will naturally create opportunities to present to internal stakeholders, clients, and prospects in a highly driven sales and continuing education of the ever-changing environment of multiple regulatory agencies and their reporting needs.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Ensuring JPM’s infrastructure is properly set up to support evolving clients and prospects needs (globally) for a wide variety of asset types, including accounting and regulatory reporting compliance.
  • Be a functional subject matter expert demonstrating a high degree of independent decision making, autonomy and execute sound judgement.
  • Project manage new account onboardings for Institutional and Strategic client mandates.
  • Act as point of contact with and for the client during the end-to-end onboarding, and service the future client needs.
  • Act as liaison with other parts of the organization including operations, client account management, client reporting, portfolio management, vendor management, and sales teams.
  • Support key audit initiatives with consistent documentation within JPMAM.
  • Able to quickly form global relationships and develop a key network of contacts to source information both internally and externally.
  • Must be comfortable initiating projects independently across a broad constituency to affect and evolve change.
  • Supports and researches various new regulatory investment accounting and reporting related pronouncements.
  • Applies local GAAP, STAT, IFRS, and other regulatory accounting treatment to complex investment accounting transactions and demonstrates understanding of key implications.  Work with clients to explain how such treatment impacts their income statement and/or balance sheet.
  • Support the global client onboarding teams to develop best practice standards and consistency and identify ways to improve processes/procedures to enhance the Client Experience.

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Undergraduate degree in a finance or accounting (or work experience that demonstrates the appropriate skills). Master’s degree, CFA or CPA designations are a plus, but not required.
  • Strong experience working with multiple investment types and/or regulatory reporting/filings.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) and Solvency 2 and their subsequent reporting requirements.

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of multiple asset classifications and types, including derivatives, fixed income, loan backed and structured securities, private equity, bank loans, and limited partnerships.
  • Experience including work in an accounting, financial reporting role of and insurance (Life and/or PC), or financial services company that services insurance companies.
  • Experience using and knowledge of the Clearwater Analytics platform.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high quality presentation materials for clients.
  • Ability to articulate complex investment strategies/processes in a clear and concise manner and comfort in interacting with clients during meetings and over the phone.
  • Solid knowledge of balance sheet and income statement components.
  • Ability to work across all 3 major regions when needed.
