As a Legal Counsel in the Office of Legal Obligations, you will help us document our material legal obligations and monitor for related legal and regulatory changes, ensuring our business in Taiwan remains compliant and well-informed. You will work closely with colleagues across Legal, Compliance, and business functions, using your legal research and analytical skills to support our commitment to regulatory excellence. You will be part of a collaborative, high-performing team that values diverse perspectives and continuous learning.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an inventory of legal obligations for the business in Taiwan, collaborating with Legal and business partners.
  • Monitor, identify, and document changes in legal and regulatory developments in Taiwan, providing clear written summaries to relevant stakeholders.
  • Research and analyze laws, regulations, and rules to assess applicability and impact to the business.
  • Promote ongoing quality assurance, consistency, and accuracy of the legal obligations inventory.
  • Develop subject matter expertise on products and services offered by the firm as required.
  • Work closely with technology partners to develop and enhance technology solutions for legal obligations management.
  • Build effective relationships with business, corporate functions, and legal colleagues.
  • Support evergreen efforts to ensure the legal obligations inventory remains current and comprehensive.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in private practice or in-house.
  • Proficient in reading and writing Chinese.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely summarize legal and regulatory developments for non-legal audiences.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with business, corporate functions, and legal/support professionals.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and coordinate among a wide range of internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Background in financial services regulation or experience supporting highly regulated businesses.
  • Familiarity with regulation of financial products and services.
  • Experience with regulatory change monitoring.
  • Experience managing legal matters for institutional clients.
  • Successful completion of conflicts of interest clearance review.
