As a Lead Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Payments Technology team, you are an integral part of a team that works to develop high-quality architecture solutions for various software applications on modern cloud-based technologies. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical architecture solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of project goals.
Job responsibilities
- Engages technical teams and business stakeholders to discuss and propose technical approaches to meet current and future needs
- Defines the technical target state of their product and drives achievement of the strategy
- Participates in architecture governance bodies
- Evaluates recommendations and provides feedback on new technologies
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 5+ years of progressive experience in software engineering and architecture roles
- Proven track record in end-to-end system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability for complex platforms
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and the Spring framework, with hands-on experience building enterprise-grade solutions
- Deep understanding and application of advanced software design principles, including SOLID, design patterns, and architectural best practices
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing low-latency, high-throughput, distributed systems
- Extensive hands-on experience with middleware technologies such as Kafka, MQ, and other message brokers
- Strong knowledge of both relational databases (e.g., Oracle) and non-relational databases (e.g., Cassandra), including data modeling and performance optimization
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best solutions for the future state architecture.
- Knowledge of Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Databricks
- Practical cloud native experience
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities
