We are seeking a skilled Investment Banking Analyst to join our EMEA Consumer & Retail team, based in London. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is highly motivated to work in a dynamic team and to contribute to our Investment Banking business.

J.P. Morgan's Investment Banking Consumer & Retail Coverage Group provides a full range of investment banking services to numerous clients across the EMEA region. Its clients include many of the world's leading firms in the Consumer & Retail space. The Group's primary focus is on delivering creative solutions to clients across the full Investment Banking product spectrum, including mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt capital market transactions as well as market top-tier corporate broking services across the EMEA Consumer & Retail client base, together with colleagues from other product teams.

As an Investment Banking Analyst within the EMEA Consumer & Retail team, you will play a crucial role in the origination and execution of investment banking mandates across all major product areas. Your responsibilities will include addressing the needs of our clients, contributing to the enhancement of J.P. Morgan's franchise and reputation in the marketplace, and partnering across teams to develop strategies for clients. You will also be tasked with building detailed financial models, evaluating market data, as well as preparing and presenting client and internal presentations. Under the guidance of senior team leaders, you will manage client transactions from pitch to close, and devise innovative and creative solutions to complex, real-world business challenges.

Job responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of pitch documentation, financial analysis and company valuations
  • Develop content for strategic meetings with clients regarding M&A or capital market transactions
  • Build advanced financial analyses, perform company valuations and M&A models with the support of experienced bankers
  • Assist in the execution and day-to-day management of transactions, as well as providing day-to-day corporate broking services for our LSE and AIM listed clients, interacting with senior team members and clients on a daily basis
  • Liaise with other product teams (M&A, ECM, DCM, Leveraged Finance) and third parties (lawyers, accountants etc.)

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Prior experience in investment banking and/or corporate finance in front office roles
  • True passion for the Consumer and Retail industry
  • Steadfast commitment to building a long term career in investment banking and corporate broking
  • Modelling skills and financial analysis with solid analytical/quantitative skills
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to develop and ability to learn quickly
  • Team player with good organisational skills and a rigorous eye for detail

 

This role encompasses the performance of regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the relevant regulatory authorities to carry out such activities.
