Location: Central and Western, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong

Join J.P.Morgans Control Management team as a Location Control Manager (LCM) in Hong Kong. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, escalating, and resolving control issues, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Your work will be essential to maintaining the firms reputation and operational integrity. You will also be responsible for overseeing the location control management agenda in Korea and Taiwan.

 

As a Location Control Manager in the Control Management team, you will report to the Asia Head of Control Management and collaborate closely with the Senior Country Business Manager (SCBM), local senior management, Business and Functional Control Managers both within and outside covered locations, as well as other regional partners. Your responsibilities include providing a comprehensive overview of the control environment, facilitating prompt issue detection and escalation, engaging the appropriate teams quickly, and ensuring timely remediation of critical control issues across all impacted areas of the firm.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the control environment in Hong Kong, collaborating with stakeholders to identify and address control issues

  • Provide oversight of the location control management agenda in Korea and Taiwan.
  • Present a comprehensive view of operational risks and emerging control issues to management and governance committees

  • Execute control processes in accordance with expectations from local regulators and management.

  • Ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues through appropriate governance channels.

  • Facilitate communication across Lines of Business, Corporate Functions, Risk, Compliance, and Audit to develop a holistic view of operational risk and controls.

  • Oversee and manage regulatory change implementations impacting the Firm across Lines of Business and Corporate Functions.

  • Provide guidance to the business on controls, audits, and testing, and oversee regulatory examinations.

  • Proactively assess and monitor control effectiveness by evaluating data and trends to identify emerging risks and opportunities within the operational risk and control environment.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in financial industry roles such as Operational Risk Control, Operations, Business Management, Front Office, Compliance, Audit, or Consulting.  

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, or other related discipline.

  • Experience of handing regulatory requests from key Hong Kong financial regulators.

  • Ability to communicate with senior business managers effectively.

  • Highly motivated, proactive self-starter who takes ownership.

  • Good understanding of controls and how to apply them to different processes and businesses.

  • Investigative mind-set with strong analytical, problem-solving, and process re-engineering skills.

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills.  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong team player with excellent partnering and influencing skill.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Knowledge of regional/global regulatory environments.

  • Knowledge/experience with automation tools, such as Tableau, Alteryx, etc.

  • Fluent in Mandarin/Cantonese/Korean language (reading, writing, speaking) is a plus.
