Join JPMorgans Japan Control Management team as the Global Banking Business Control Manager (BCM) in Tokyo. You will play a crucial role in identifying, escalating, and resolving control issues, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement for our Global Banking franchise. Your work will be vital in maintaining the firm's reputation and operational integrity.

As the Japan Global Banking Control Manager (VP) in a global leader in financial services, you will oversee control governance, regulatory change, and risk management for our Global Banking franchise in Japan and across the Asia Pacific region.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage the local control governance model for Japan Global Banking, integrating with the global framework
  • Project manage regulatory change implementation for Japan Banking, partnering with Legal, Compliance, Business, Technology, and Conflicts teams
  • Produce analysis of control issues and metrics for senior management, projects, and local/regional forums
  • Develop metrics and reporting to ensure visibility and transparency of risk events impacting Investment Banking and Corporate Banking
  • Execute major regional and global control programs for Japan Investment Banking and Corporate Banking
  • Embed regional best practice governance while meeting local regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement training materials and communications, and execute regional controls programs
  • Coordinate with Compliance to manage regulatory exams impacting Global Banking
  • Manage internal and external audits for Japan Global Banking
  • Collaborate with APAC Regional Control Office management on relevant initiatives
  • Ensure timely execution of business and process changes in support of the location. Conduct deep dive reviews into issues and risk events to identify and manage control gaps

 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics or other related disciplines
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in financial industry roles such as Operational Risk Control, Operations, Business Management, Front Office, Compliance, Audit, or Consulting 
  • Understanding of three lines of defense. Ability to conduct deep dive reviews and manage control gaps
  • Understanding of Investment Banking products: ECM, DCM, and M&A
  • Fluent in Japanese language (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Knowledge of securities business and regulatory environment in Japan and Asia Pacific
  • Excellent coordination, analytical, quantitative, and control skills
  • Strong communication, relationship building, and influencing skills
  • Presence and ability to engage with senior management
  • Flexibility to partner with team members across global time zones

 

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience in project management for regulatory change
  • Familiarity with regional/global regulatory environments
  • Experience managing audits and regulatory exams
  • Knowledge/experience with automation tools, such as Tableau, Alteryx, etc.
