Join JPMorgan Chase and help protect and power the U.S. payments ecosystem at scale. As a member of Centralized Transaction Operations (CTO) Legal, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the operations team that delivers end-to-end operational and technical support for check and payment processing, card production, ATM and branch services, and data management across the U.S. payments system. You will primarily support operations units that fulfill third-party court-related subpoenas and asset-based orders, coordinating with civil litigators, federal, state, and local prosecutors, and other regulatory agencies. In addition to responding to daily escalations, you will help shape the strategic vision of the operations team, promoting process improvements and efficiencies while providing legal support to other CTO sublines of business and key strategic initiatives.  

 

As an Assistant General Counsel with CTO, you will be required to engage in significant cross-functional collaboration, including with line of business lawyers and their counterparts in JPMCs corporate functions. You must have strong analytical, research and issue-spotting skills, and be a team player able to work collaboratively while also independently managing your portfolio of work.  You should also be organized and attentive to detail, demonstrating strong judgment, ability to timely and properly escalate matters, and make sound decisions. The environment often requires that issues be addressed quickly to ensure that escalated matters are resolved in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities

  • JD admitted to practice in and member of the bar in good standing in the state in which the candidate will practice.
  • 5+ years of legal experience in a relevant government, law enforcement or a regulatory agency, large consumer banking organization, law firm, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated record of taking on increasing responsibility
  • Team player with a natural ability to think and act collaboratively with legal and non-legal colleagues and stakeholders across lines of business
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to multitask and effectively manage multiple matters and projects simultaneously 
  • Able to foster and maintain strong client relationships and see past the question and understand greater impacts or risks
  • Excellent communication skills, analytical skills and judgment, including the ability to interpret, explain and apply statutes and regulations
  • Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
  • All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
