Job Description: 

Jefferies Operations technology team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced distributed technologist with hands on experience in developing Java based application in hybrid platforms to join our team.  This is a Vice President (VP) level role based out of Pune, India.  The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and active sound working knowledge of Java, Java based applications using Spring boot frameworks both on premises and Cloud platforms (such as AWS or Azure), with extensive experience in designing, developing, deploying, and managing cloud-based solutions. Familiarity with event-based Micro-Services architecture is highly desirable.  This role requires a proactive individual who can drive innovation and efficiency in our cloud adoption while ensuring security, scalability, and reliability. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Technology and Architecture

• Work with key architects to define and implement Technology roadmaps for middle and back -office application systems ensuring the enterprise architecture principles
• Proactively suggest and implement latest and greatest technology solutions using Micro Services and API first architecture on Cloud platforms
• Evaluate and implement AI/ML for Operations technology land scape
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable event driven business application using AWS services. 
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. 
• Design, implement solutions with low latency, scalable and very performant critical middle and back-office applications

Delivery and Project Management

• Actively involve in in end-to-end development and delivery of technology solutions for middle office systems for trade capture and integrate with vendor back-office systems
• Ensure the project deliverables are meeting the agreed timelines and escalate blockers as early as possible 
• Manage large scale transformation programs and provide periodic updates to senior stake holders on the progress with meaningful KRAs

Leadership and Team Development

• Lead and mentor a team of junior technologists consists of employees and vendor supplied resources
• Build talent pipeline for future 
• Foster collaboration and innovation, accountability in the team, encourage continuous improvement
• Proactively identify opportunities for improvement/automation and Optimize system performance
• Continuous learning and champion innovation with emerging technologies

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
• At least 12+ years of working experience in investment banking middle or back-office operations technology systems
• At least 3 to 4 years of experience in designing and developing large enterprise applications on any cloud platform
• Very Strong proficiency in Java programming using Spring or Spring boot
• Hand on experience in developing enterprise applications using Java, Angular, Spring Boot, Batch using JPA, Hibernate JDBC connectivity with database using Kafka and MQ Queue messaging infra
• Familiarity with IAC and tools like Terraform 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good familiarity with investment banking and broker dealer front to back functional knowledge
• Proficient in scripting languages such as JavaScript, PowerShell. 
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and practices. 
• Self starter and should quickly adapt
• Familiarity with various software design patterns
• Working knowledge with various source control tools like Git, Bitbucket
• Strong communication skills, ability to interact with Product Owners, senior operations stake holders 

Desired Skills

• AWS certifications a big plus.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills. 
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. 
• Experience with setup, configuration of Kafka clusters. 
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools. 
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar. 
• Previous experience in the financial sector is a plus.
