ING offers both retail and wholesale banking services in Australia. INGs regional presence includes a 13% stake in Bank of Beijing, China and a 30% stake in TMBThanachart Bank in Thailand.

Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia, which includes all WB business lines such as Financial Markets, Strategic Products, Sectors, Lending and Transaction Services and other support functions.

What does the Transaction Services Team do in ING?

Transaction Services (TS) cover the management and provision of trade and cash solutions to INGs corporate clients. TS team originates, structures and manages traditional trade products such as letters of credit, documentary collections, bank guarantees as well as working capital financing solutions (receivables and payables based) typically on a limited or non-recourse basis. The team equally has ownership and responsibility to bring in liquidity for the bank through Current and Savings account. We work closely not just with the clients but internal stakeholders including, but not limited to Relationship Managers, Sector Heads, Risk Approvers across the global offices in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas, etc.

What would you be doing?

  • Assist the TS Sales team in various activities throughout the lifecycle of a new or existing transaction from opportunity inception to execution of first drawdown of program. Our interns would be expected to:

    • Conduct financial analysis of clients financial statements, leading to an internal credit rating used by the bank to determine credit appetite and pricing of programs;

    • Analyze trade and cash conversion cycles of clients to determine their working capital requirements and identify opportunities;

    • Assist the deal principal in structuring and formulation of trade finance solutions to meet the client needs;

    • Create commercial presentations aimed at explaining the proposed solution to clients;

    • Assist to draft commercial green light requests and credit proposals for the approval of new programs; and

    • Support the deal principal in drafting of the legal documentation receivables purchase agreements, risk participation agreements, payment service agreements, etc.

  • Support the TS Sales team in transactions management of existing programs funding requests, monitoring of outstanding funded assets and reconciliation at settlements; and

  • Support the TS Sales team in forecasting budget, cost and other financial matters


What qualities and skills are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate individual who meets the following criteria: 

  • Critically minded, with strong analytical and problem solving skills and an eye for detail

  • Hands-on, willingness to learn and stress resilient

  • Able to work autonomously and on several projects simultaneously

  • A good communicator and team player

  • Proficient in usage of MS Excel and Powerpoint

  • Prior experience in credit and/or financial analysis and financial accounting is a plus

What would you gain from this internship?

  • Financial and credit analysis experience on clients within various industry sectors
