ING in Asia Pacific

In Asia Pacific, ING offers wholesale banking across 11 markets, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

ING offers both retail and wholesale banking services in Australia. INGs regional presence includes a 13% stake in Bank of Beijing, China and a 30% stake in TMBThanachart Bank in Thailand.

Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia, which includes all WB business lines such as Financial Markets, Strategic Products, Sectors, Lending and Transaction Services and other support functions.

What does the Group Reporting Team do in ING?

  • Oversight of the month end ledger closing process, including the review of one-off journal entries and adjustments timely

  • Involved in the Financial Accounting Head Office reporting

  • Support the monitoring of accounts payable and accounts receivables

  • Participating in audits and internal control assessments

  • IFRS 16 reporting - working with procurement to capture new leases, monthly checks on IFRS 16 balances

  • Ensure compliance with the minimum standards for financial and regulatory reporting and SOX controls

  • Balance Sheet substantiation and support data quality improvement initiatives and investigation

  • Assist in reconciliation

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as required

What would you be doing?

As part of the Group Reporting team, you will be assisting in entity control and Group reporting for Singapore entities.

You are detailed orientated and have a strong sense of meeting deadlines.You are independent, like to work on multiple tasks and can pro-actively manage multiple stakeholders in various functions including Front office, Risk, Treasury and Corporate Advisory

What qualities, skills and other criteria are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate individual who meets the following criteria: 

  • You should have legal work rights in the country of internship.

  • Undergraduate in accounting or finance

  • Excellent knowledge of local and international financial reporting standards and understand latest technical issues and their implications

  • Strong software skills, in particular Microsoft Excel

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL and other tool links is a plus

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders

  • Positive can-do attitude and attention to detail

  • Self-starter, pro-active and team player

  • Able to independently resolve issues

  • Maintain honesty and integrity in their work and meet ethical and compliance requirement

  • Able to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality

What would you gain from this internship?

Better understanding in the Group Reporting space. This includes understanding of the reporting processes and data flow as well as importance of data quality.
