Full Job Description

Exciting opportunity for an Enterprise Architect to play a key role within the Strategy and Architecture team, working closely with senior stakeholders to develop, communicate and maintain the Enterprise Architecture plan, practice and artefacts.

You will be responsible for enabling ING to continue to be at the forefront of digital banking and innovation by playing a leading role in the banks technology modernization strategy and AI agenda. As an Enterprise Architect at ING, you will translate the business strategy into technology blueprints, architecture models and viewpoints. You will apply your expertise to strengthen our architectural capability and drive innovation across the organization.

Working with the Tribes and CoEs, you will lead the development of architecture roadmaps for all key bank domains and oversee their ongoing updates and enhancement. You will provide input into INGs quarterly and annual planning cycles by guiding and influencing senior stakeholders on key technology decisions.

As a senior member of the architecture team, you will be responsible for coaching and mentoring other architects, with the aim of continuously improving the effectiveness of our architecture practice.

What youll do

  • Engage with Tribes and Business Units to translate business strategies into clear, actionable technology and architecture roadmaps.

  • Drive the strategic adoption and continuous improvement of BizzDesign and ArchiMate, embedding them as INGs standard Enterprise Architecture capabilities.

  • Collaborate with the Global EA team to deliver groupwide initiatives that standardize, mature, and uplift Enterprise Architecture practice across ING.

  • Champion business- and technologyled transformation, ensuring architectural decisions align with INGs longterm strategy, sustainability goals, and regulatory expectations.

  • Lead architecture efforts in large transformation programs, providing guidance, review, and oversight to architecture and solution design teams across domains.

  • Foster an AIready culture and continuously improve the architecture practice, working across Domain, Platform, Security, and Infrastructure teams while staying connected to industry peers and vendors.

What were looking for.

  • Deep architectural expertise, including data structures, design and integration patterns, algorithms, and modern engineering best practices.

  • Strong Enterprise Architecture credentials and experience, with TOGAF 9 certification (or higher), handson proficiency of BizzDesign and ArchiMate, and over 12 years in architecture, including 5+ years as an Enterprise Architect in Banking.

  • Proven leadership in large-scale transformation programs, defining endtoend enterprise architectures, EA roadmaps, and technology blueprints across complex organizations.

  • Broad technology and domain knowledge, spanning Cloud (Azure and GCP), Data & Analytics, Agentic-AI, Core Banking Modernisation, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, , Payments, Middleware, Mobile, Security, , FinOps and Cloud Economics.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both senior executives and technical teams.

  • Strong leadership mindset and industry awareness, demonstrating selfdriven delivery, financial acumen (budgeting and forecasting), participation in industry forums, and awareness of emerging banking and technology trends.
