Full Job Description
We are seeking a Commercial Legal Counsel to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in commercial contracting work to provide support across various departments including Technology, Trading, Finance and Human Resources. The primary focus of this position will be on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial arrangements. We are looking for someone who is also eager to engage in a wide range of general in-house legal matters, including privacy, employment and corporate matters.
This role is well suited for someone who enjoys variety in the legal work, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is comfortable shifting between legal analysis and practical business advice. The candidate must be nimble in applying legal concepts to solve problems, and have a detail-oriented, hands-on approach to both legal and business challenges is essential.
YOUR CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft, negotiate, and review commercial contracts, including technology agreements, consulting agreements, finance agreements and other business and legal arrangements.
- Advise stakeholders of potential risks in contractual areas and propose risk mitigation strategies.
- Review existing policies and procedures of IMC, identify areas for continuous improvement; formulate and draft policies and procedures, as required.
- Demonstrate a willingness to support other general in-house legal matters, such as corporate governance, privacy, and employment law, as needed.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s (LL.B) or (preferred) Master’s (LL.M) degree in Private Law from a recognized and accredited law school
- 5 years law firm experience or prior in-house experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
- Apply legal concepts to problem-solve in a nimble and pragmatic manner.
- Detail-oriented, commercial, and hands-on approach to both legal and business issues.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
