This role within the Global Product Control structure offers the opportunity to provide key operational and strategic control and governance of Product Control Valuations. This includes ensuring adherence to governance and controls of Fair Value through Review and Oversight of Fair Value Adjustments (FVA), Independent Price Verification (IPV), and Prudent Valuation Adjustment (PVA). The role involves leading and participating in valuation methodologies, driving global alignment and enhancements, and engaging with various stakeholders, including the Trading team, Front Office, Traded Risk, Operations, IT, and other Finance teams. Additionally, it promotes continuous improvement, efficiency, and control through procedural and system changes, and offers the chance to drive engagement with other asset class valuation teams to increase consistency, quality, and efficiency. The role also involves maintaining HSBC internal control standards and ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations.

As our Valuation Controller, Product Control - Valuations you will:

  • Ensure adherence to governance and controls of Fair Value through the review and oversight of Fair Value Adjustments (FVA), Independent Price Verification (IPV), and Prudent Valuation Adjustment (PVA)
  • Act as a key contact point for the Trading team and other stakeholders, including Front Office, Traded Risk, Operations, IT, and other PC and Finance teams (both locally and globally)
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of valuation methodologies, ensuring global alignment and staying informed about industry developments
  • Promote continuous improvement by increasing efficiency and controls through procedural and system changes, and lead transformation initiatives within Product Control
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations, and procedures, including timely implementation of audit points

Youll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Specific experience in Product Control, Risk, or Valuations and ability to demonstrate and share knowledge of products and markets is essential. Experience with more than one asset class is an advantage. Finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CA, CFA, or FRM) is an advantage
  • Experience in developing methodology for Independent Price Verification (IPV) and Fair Value Adjustments (FVAs) is a distinct advantage
  • Strong IT skills are preferred, including experience with Python and MS Excel
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, including the ability to articulate complex topics in a non-technical manner
  • Experience in delivering projects, especially across multiple locations, is beneficial
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are required
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships and establishing collaborative partnerships with stakeholders is important
