We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Financial Crime, CIB Asia.

In this role you will:

  • Providing advice and guidance regarding business activities involving [Project Nexus].
  • Providing subject matter expertise to support setting policy, providing guidance and advising the businesses and functions on financial crime risk involving [Project Nexus]; which might involve greater operational exposure to high risk activities in particular Bribery & Corruption, Money Laundering, Sanctions, Export Controls, Proliferation and Terror Finance, Fraud, and Tax Evasion.
  • Subject matter expert guidance to support the articulation of [Project Nexus] financial crime risk appetite and policies with respect to the above financial crime risks.
  • Act as the trusted advisor and exercise risk steward challenge to FLOD.
  • Maintain an effective control framework and compliance with all relevant external laws & regulations, internal codes and policies and good market practices.
  • Represent the financial crime risk agenda through relevant governance forums, including the Corporate and Institutional Banking Financial Crime ExCo, and as an attendee at the relevant forums (where required) to report on progress and issues in relation to the operational effectiveness of HSBC’s policies, processes, systems and controls in countering financial crime.
  • Support the implementation of policy, issue management, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with risk owners and control owners.
  • Maintain effective relationships with global, regional, and local stakeholders to develop a strong working relationship.
  • Monitor and maintain the operational effectiveness of the team.

To be successful you will need:

  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within one discipline
  • The role requires a comprehensive understanding of several value units / products / regions / legal entities, alongside an advanced understanding of the industry and the relative positioning of the HSBC's products and services
  • Management responsibilities for a sizeable team of professionals (including responsibility for budget, and planning)
  • Covers a wide range of activities that require evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual and qualitative information in complicated perhaps novel situations
  • Is proactive in developing ideas, continuously searching for improvements in techniques which add value to the business and has full responsibility for implementation.
  • Latitude to make decisions outside of established procedures but within a policy framework. Broad guidelines are available. Role implements strategy set by others.
  • Creates business plans for own teams and expected to contribute into value unit / region / product / legal entity strategy.
  • The role requires the ability to guide, persuade and influence others through the developed skills of communication and diplomacy.
  • The role requires the ability to negotiate and influence within their team with a high level of influence.
