We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of an. Associate Director, Tech SME

In this role you will:

  • The associate will be working closely with Core Banking Germany team and technology architects to transform Core Banking legacy applications.
  • Possess track record in taking over legacy finance applications and self-sufficiently drive knowledge acquisition (pull rather than being pushed)
  • Work closely with architects, business analysts and component leads during discovery and elaboration phase to ensure the solution is technically feasible
  • Demonstrate seniority in understanding and operating in complex landscapes, managing application dependencies beyond team borders
  • Liaise with multiple downstream team, AIM (HSBC standard) team to set design standards and review the same periodically
  • Maintain engineering related defects to a minimum.
  • Always be in touch with industry trends and bring in best practices to keep the engineering process relevant and effective.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Hands-on mainframe development using COBOL, DB2, CICS, and related toolsets.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java/Spring Boot applications.
  • Establish engineering best practices and actively participate in code reviews with teams and stakeholders.
  • Perform technical analysis, troubleshoot production issues, and produce required technical artefacts.
  • Build automation scripts and workflows; strong Git/GitHub expertise.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins (and related release/deployment automation tooling).
  • Containerisation and orchestration experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and GKE; CKA certification preferred.
  • Strong observability and integration skills: Grafana/Prometheus/Splunk/AppDynamics/CloudWatch, Python scripting, SQL & REST APIs; Kafka/Confluent streaming and cloud messaging (AWS Kafka or GCP Pub/Sub) are a plus.
