Full Job Description
Job title: FSG Manager
The Finance Solution Group (FSG) is HSBCs internal consultancy team, supporting the Finance function with a flexible, multi-skilled, and agile workforce to deliver on both Run-the-Bank (RTB) and Change-the-Bank (CTB) priorities. We are seeking a hands-on Tech Consultant with expertise in the latest IT and AI technologies to drive simplification, automation, and transformation of finance processes.
This role is responsible for designing, building, and deploying AI-enabled and automated solutions that improve efficiency, insight, control, and decision-making within a highly regulated banking environment. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills with finance domain knowledge and a passion for innovation.
In this role, you will:
- AI & Automation Solution Delivery
- Rapidly apply AI, automation (Python or Low/No-Code Xceptor, Alteryx, SQL, etc.), and digital tools to finance processes (e.g., developing models, reconciliation, controls, commentary generation, data quality, EUC automation).
- Prototype and implement AI-enabled solutions, including document ingestion, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflows.
- Simplify and standardise finance processes, ensuring clarity and consistency across varied business units.
Data Engineering & Data Readiness
- Work with both structured (Finance systems, ledgers, regulatory datasets) and unstructured data (documents, emails, PDFs, policies).
- Build and maintain data pipelines to support AI and automation workloads.
- Ensure data quality, lineage, and traceability are embedded in all solutions.
Finance Transformation & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge across Finance (Regulatory Reporting, Financial Accounting & Reporting, Treasury, Partnering & Insights, etc.).
- Provide SME input into change programs and BAU processes.
- Escalate risks and work collaboratively to resolve challenges impacting agreed outcomes.
- Work solo or with teams to deliver complex change and gain exposure to senior stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and a curious mindset, challenging existing processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Build SME knowledge across a wide variety of opportunities across BAU and Change programmes
Leadership & Teamwork
- Strong teamwork with a culture of 'One Team' to ensure timelines are tracked effectively and issues identified in a timely manner.
- Support the broader Finance team to drive effective regulatory compliance and strengthening of the control environment.

To be successful you will:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- 612 years of relevant experience, ideally in Banking/Fintech or large-scale Finance transformation roles.
- Proven track record in integrating AI and automation into enterprise systems and workflows.
- Experience in stakeholder management and contributing to cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in regulated financial services is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Demonstrates ability to code in programming languages (Python) or automate using low/no-code solutions (Xceptor, Alteryx, SQL, etc.).
- Experience with AI tools to develop models and automate finance processes.
- Experience handling structured and unstructured data.
- Familiarity with RAG retrieval systems, agentic workflows, and prompt engineering is a plus.
- Hands-on with agile mindset and ways of working.
Finance & Regulatory Knowledge:
- Understanding of control frameworks.
- Knowledge of financial products and how they impact reporting requirements, and more generally the banking business, balance sheet, and P&L.
- Good understanding of Financial Reporting (e.g., IFRS).
- Awareness of key financial risks (Credit Risk, Market Risk, etc.).
- Understanding of why banks are regulated and key regulations.
Other Skills:
- Results-oriented with a strong focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams and geographies.
