We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of
Balance Sheet Reconciliation Manager
Role purpose
Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are delivered with high quality, on time, and in line with internal control standardsreducing accounting and operational risk and maintaining strong governance over accounts, breaks, and ageing.
Main activities
- Lead the end-to-end balance sheet reconciliation cycle (monthly/weekly/daily depending on the account), ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Define and maintain the close calendar and reconciliation SLAs; coordinate with GL, Operations, Treasury, Product, and Technology teams.
- Review and approve reconciliations (preparation/review), ensuring appropriate evidence, traceability, and compliance with internal policies.
- Manage breaks: investigation, assignment of ownership, follow-up through resolution, and root-cause documentation.
- Monitor and report ageing, materiality, high-risk accounts, and trends; propose preventive actions.
- Ensure accounts have clear account ownership, well-defined reconciliation rules, and up-to-date procedures (SOPs).
- Produce reporting for stakeholders (Finance leadership, Risk, Audit) and participate in control/governance forums.
- Support internal/external audits and control reviews; respond to findings and deliver remediation plans.
- Drive process improvements: automation, standardization, reduction of manual accounts, and optimization of tools.
- Develop the team through coaching, goal-setting, performance management, and training plans.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (CPA/ACCA/CIMA preferred).
- 510 years experience in Financial Control, Reconciliations, GL, Accounting Operations, or similar areas.
- Experience leading teams and managing stakeholders in complex/multi-country environments (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, month-end close, and reconciliation governance.
- Strong command of balance sheet reconciliations: GL vs subledger, clearing accounts, suspense accounts, intercompany, cash, accruals, etc.
- Analytical capability to identify root causes and risks (materiality, ageing, recurrence).
- Ability to prioritize and deliver under close deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
